Handling Disappointment

https://buymeacoffee.com/greyhermit         How many times in your life have you been disappointed? We all experience disappointment at one time or another, often we experience it many times. How do you deal with it? Get angry at whoever disappointed you? Or do you just shrug it off? Have you ever thought about Judas at the last supper, and wonder if maybe Jesus was disappointed in him? Or if Jesus, who obviously knew what Judas was going to do, just shrugged it off as part of God's plan? I can't help but think it was a bit of both. Yes, Jesus knew what Judas was going to do, because He mentioned it to everyone at the last supper. But did you ever think that maybe there was a part of Jesus that was secretly rooting for Judas to make the choice not to betray Him? Jesus could have treated Judas like the betrayer he was, but I think He probably forgave, prayed for, and loved Judas with that immaculate love that only Jesus can give even the worst of sinners.

I know there are many legalist Christians out there who will probably be disappointed in me for posing such a question. Personally, I believe it's a good thing to ponder such things. It stretches the mind. It also helps me think about how I can handle someone the next time they disappoint me. And they will, but I am able, because of how Jesus handled me when I disappointed Him so many times, to better forgive, pray for and love those who disappoint me, just as Jesus has forgiven, prayed for, and loved me.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, saves those whose spirit is crushed." Psalm 34:19
